How long is the tilapia farming cycle and how to farm tilapiaThe breeding cycle of tilapia is generally 5-6 months. Tilapia is a tropical fish with delicious meat, few bones and high protein content. It is one of the main farmed aquatic products in my country. The fry are released in the period when the temperature rises after the spring, generally around mid-April. After the fry are released, the breeding time of tilapia can be shortened by increasing the water volume, reducing the fertility of the water quality, using aerators, and preventing and controlling fish diseases. 1. How long is the tilapia farming cycle? 1. The breeding cycle of tilapia is about 5-6 months. Generally, the fry are released in mid-April and can be harvested around October. 2. Tilapia is native to Africa and is a tropical fish. It is also the main farmed aquatic product in my country. The meat is delicious and has few bones. The main breeding areas are Guangdong, Guangxi, Hainan and other areas with higher temperatures. They are generally raised in ponds. 3. The farming cycle of tilapia can be shortened by increasing the water volume, reducing the water fertility, using aerators, etc., so that tilapia can be put on the market for sale earlier. 2. Tilapia Farming Methods 1. Site selection for breeding pond: (1) Generally, you need to choose a pond of 667-1334 square meters. The pond should be rectangular in shape with a flat bottom. Sandy loam is preferred. (2) The pond must have convenient drainage, be pollution-free, and face the sun. The water depth must be maintained at around 1.8-2.5m during breeding, and an aerator must be installed to supply oxygen to the fry. (3) Before stocking fish, the fish pond needs to be cleaned 7-10 days in advance, then drained and exposed to the sun. The dry pond should be disinfected with lime powder. After cleaning and disinfection, fermented fertilizer should be added to cultivate plankton. 2. Seedling raising and stocking: (1) You need to choose fry with smooth body surface, strong physique, neat size, plump body and a size of about 5 cm. Before stocking, the fry need to be soaked in 5% salt water or 5-10 mg potassium permanganate solution. (2) One tilapia fry can be placed in one cubic meter of fish pond, and 40 to 50 bighead carps weighing 50 grams can be placed per acre, and 30 to 40 silver carps weighing 30 grams can be placed per acre. 3. Feeding and management: (1) Tilapia likes oxygen, so it needs to be equipped with an aerator for daily feeding. One aerator can be installed for every 5 mu of pond to ensure that the tilapia does not float. (2) Before the tilapia fry weigh 150 grams, use fertilized water for breeding and apply fertilizer once a week. After 2-3 months of breeding, when the weight of each tilapia is 250 grams, it is necessary to change the breeding method and feed it with full-price and well-proportioned multi-fish feed. In the middle and late stages, when each tilapia weighs 1 kilogram, it is necessary to ensure the freshness of the water quality to increase the appetite of the tilapia and achieve the goal of rapid growth. How are tilapia farmed? How are fish ponds managed? The farming methods and pond management of tilapia are as follows: 1. Breeding conditions Before stocking, the pond must be completely emptied and other fish, especially tilapia, removed. Otherwise, four generations will live together and compete for food and space, which is not conducive to the growth of tilapia. Quicklime or tea bran powder is usually used to clean the pond. If quicklime is used, the pond water should be dried first, the pond water should be completely drained, and then quicklime should be applied at 100kg/mu. When filling and draining water normally, a 30-mesh screen should be used to filter to prevent other tilapia from mixing into the pond. 2. Stocking density If you are cultivating fry, the stocking density of fry is 30,000-100,000 per mu. If you are raising adult fish, there are two modes. One is pure breeding of a single species. The stocking density should be adjusted according to the size of the aquaculture water body. It is necessary to ensure that the fish pond is well ventilated and light-permeable, and that there is sufficient feed. Some bighead carp or catfish should be stocked to prevent the growth and reproduction of tilapia and wild fish of other species that are not thoroughly cleaned or mixed in during the drainage process. The second is three-dimensional multi-species mixed breeding, mainly with fish as omnivorous fish, mixed in the traditional four major fish and famous ponds, and remove residual bait and feces. 3. Feeding intensity The key is feeding, first of all, to optimize the feed. Instead of choosing feed, it is better to choose feed manufacturers. We should choose brand feed produced by large and old factories with high safety factors; secondly, floating materials should be preferred among sinking materials, semi-sinking materials and floating materials. Feed should be fed at regular times, fixed points and quantitatively, twice a day, and the best feeding time is 10 am and 3 pm. In hot summer, especially when the weather is hot and humid, fish should not be fed to avoid overfeeding. If there is insufficient dissolved oxygen at night, it will damage the gastrointestinal digestion and absorption function of fish. 4. Disease control This fish not only grows fast and is large in size, but also has strong disease resistance, and it usually has few or no diseases. Generally, after being worn and damaged during fishing or transportation, it is easy to die from bacterial infection. Especially in cold weather, it is easy to get water mold after fishing or long-distance transportation; on the day when the fry are put into the pond, sprinkle iodine water or chlorinated water throughout the pond. 5. Daily management Regulating water quality is the key link. To improve the sediment environment, you should check the fish pond in the morning and evening, look at the water color, smell the water vapor, observe the activities of the fish, and prevent the fish from lacking oxygen. Especially in hot and humid weather, once you find the fish floating head, you should turn on the aerator in time. If you find that the water quality is too rich, you should reduce the feed, inject new water, reduce the water concentration or change the water; especially in summer, you should deepen the breeding water level, pay attention to the pond foundation and drainage outlet, and prohibit other tilapia from mixing into the fish pond. At the same time, pay attention to improving the bottom environment and create a good ecological environment for the healthy growth of fish. To choose healthy fish fry, you must ensure the oxygen in the water during breeding, and you should also replace the water resources in time. You must choose suitable feed, and then regularly remove garbage and stains, and do a good job of ventilation. Tilapia farming requires strict control of water temperature and oxygen. First, a suitable pond must be built, and the water must be sterilized to prevent diseases and insect pests. Tilapia species should be selected based on high male rates, fast growth, large size, and high meat content. It is recommended to choose branded species. The ponds for tilapia farming can be large or small, and the water depth requirement is not strict, but for ponds that need to overwinter, the water depth is required to be above 1.7 meters. When farming tilapia, you should always pay attention to the regulation of water quality. Choose suitable varieties for breeding, pay attention to water quality, disinfection and sterilization, feeding conditions, feed ratio, light intensity and oxygen content. |
