There are 3 pairs of curved thoracic legs, the abdomen is bulging, there are curved segments, and the tail segment is wide and slightly pointed. The texture is crisp and easy to break, with gray-black substances in the abdomen, smelly and slightly salty. It is best to be complete, oily and shiny, and without mud. It is mainly produced in Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Henan, Hubei and other places. In addition, it is also produced in Anhui, Shandong, Hebei, Shanxi, Shaanxi, Inner Mongolia and other places. Those produced in Jiangsu and Zhejiang are small, light, and have no mud in the abdomen. They are of the best quality and are called "Su Tu Yuan"; those produced in other regions are large and heavy, with mud in the abdomen, and of inferior quality, and are called "Da Tu Yuan" or "Han Shi Yuan". ②Golden-edged earthworm, also known as: Golden-edged earthworm. It is the dried female insect of the red-edged water devil. It is long and flat, with a cavity length of 3~3.5 cm and a width of 1.5~2 cm. The back is dark brown and shiny, and is in the shape of a shell. It has 10 transverse sections. The first section is wider, with a narrow yellow edge on the edge. The edges of the following 9 sections are reddish brown, and each section has teeth. There is a pair of special wings on both sides of the second and third sections. The ventral surface is reddish brown and shiny. The rest is the same as the above species. It is mainly produced in Fujian, Guangdong, Guangxi and other places. In addition, the dried female insect of the Polyphaga plancyi Bol. of the family Corythuja is also used as medicine. It is produced in Beijing.
