1. How long does it take for the egg case of the earthworm to hatch?

To complete a generation, the earthworm needs to go through three stages: egg, nymph and adult. It takes about 8 months for male insects to grow wings from nymphs, while female insects are wingless and mature in about 9 to 11 months. Male insects die 5 to 7 days after mating. Female insects can lay eggs one week after mating, and they will lay eggs for the rest of their lives after mating. The mating period is from June to October. Eggs can be laid from late April to late November, and the peak egg-laying period is from July to October. The eggs are stuck together into a block called an egg sheath, which is brown, kidney-shaped or nut-shaped, about 0.5 cm long, and hatches into larvae after 40 to 60 days. The egg sheaths from May to mid-August can hatch larvae in the same year, and a tank (bowl) should be set up every month. The egg sheaths after late August of the previous year and the egg sheaths in May can all hatch into larvae by the end of July.
