CATDOLL: What method is used to heat scorpions?

1. What method is used to heat and breed scorpions?

Heating refers to the measures taken to increase the temperature of the scorpion room when the outside temperature is low during temperature-controlled scorpion breeding. Generally, heating is carried out from the molting period of the scorpions to the recovery period of the following year to create the most suitable temperature conditions for their growth, development and reproduction, so that they are always in a vigorous growth and development stage. At present, the commonly used heating methods are: electric heating, fire channel heat dissipation heating and water heating. Electric heating is heating by using electricity to generate heat; water heating is heating by using the heat dissipated by warm hot water pipes; and fire channel heat dissipation heating is heating by using the heat generated by combustion to dissipate through the pipes. When using this method, be sure to prevent smoke leakage from the fire channel. Please choose according to actual needs.

2. How to breed scorpions? How to control them

Scorpion breeding technology

1. Characteristics of Scorpions

Scorpion, also known as pincer scorpion and whole insect, is a commonly used Chinese herbal medicine with the effects of dispelling wind and clearing meridians, and attacking poison. It not only meets the needs of domestic herbal medicine, but also sells well abroad.

Scorpions like warm and humid environments. In summer, they often hide in weedy ground embankments, under cracks in stones, or in cracks in walls. They are afraid of sunlight and hide during the day and come out at night.

It feeds on spiders, dragonflies and other soft and juicy insects. It starts to emerge from hibernation in spring when the average temperature is above 10 degrees Celsius, and is most active between 20 and 25 degrees Celsius. It hides in the shade in summer and hibernates in autumn when the temperature is below 10 degrees Celsius.

2. Breeding methods

There are many ways to raise scorpions, ranging from raising them in a mountain to raising them in a tank or basin. Taking pond raising as an example, the following is an explanation: The breeding pond should be located in a south-facing sheltered place, and built with bricks or stones to form a pond with a length, width, and height of 100 cm * 60 cm * 80 cm.

The outside of the pool should be sealed with mud. When grouting inside, some gaps can be left between bricks to increase the usable area of the scorpion nest. The top of the pool wall should be sealed with a glass plate, which can extend horizontally about 5 cm into the pool to prevent scorpions from escaping. The center of the pool can be piled up with broken tiles, adobes, and stones, leaving more gaps between each layer for scorpions to live. The bricks and tiles in the center of the pool should be at the bottom of the pool wall, and the surrounding area should be about 15 cm away from the pool wall to facilitate the placement of food and the activities of scorpions.

3. Scorpion breeding technology

Scorpions mainly feed on small, soft and juicy insects. They like to eat spiders, crickets, grasshoppers, etc. Scorpions also need a lot of water, especially in hot weather. In addition to preying on juicy insects, they also go to humid places to suck water. According to the scorpion's diet, currently, one of the sources of feed for domestic scorpions is artificial breeding of insects.

You can pile wheat straw, rice chaff, horse manure, weeds, etc. together in a damp place, sprinkle water on them, cover them tightly with sacks or other things, and let them ferment and breed worms. When feeding, use a sieve to filter out the worms and pour them into the scorpion nest. The grass that has been sieved out is still piled together to breed worms. Feed them once every two days on average, and once a day during the breeding season. You can also feed scorpions with artificially bred earthworms, maggots, etc. Another way to raise scorpions is to set up a black light in the nest to lure flying insects into the nest for the scorpions to prey on.

In addition, scorpions can also be raised using compound feed. The feed formula for 2-year-old scorpions is: 125 grams of meat powder, 125 grams of biscuit crumbs, 300 grams of milk, or 200 grams of minced meat, 100 grams of steamed buns. The feed formula for 3- and 4-year-old scorpions is: 30% cereals, 30% meat powder, 2% animal oil, 38% fresh egg juice; or 50% bran, 5% egg yolk powder, 45% animal milk; the feed formula for 5- and 6-year-old scorpions and adult scorpions is: 30% bran, 30% meat powder, 40% animal milk; or 30% steamed buns, biscuit crumbs, 30% meat powder, 10% egg yolk powder, 30% animal milk, add appropriate amount of water and mix well.

Providing water to scorpions is a relatively important step. When the weather is hot, drinking water should be provided in time. You can soak corn cobs or foam plastics in water and put them in the scorpion nest, and replace them when they are dry. You can also use a long cloth strip, dip one end in a glass bottle filled with water, and hang the other end outside the bottle for the scorpion to drink water. When providing water to scorpions, it is best not to use a water container directly to supply water to scorpions, so as to avoid soaking the scorpion's feet when absorbing water, and preventing it from getting dirty and unable to hunt, causing death.

When the weather is hot, you should also pay attention to maintaining the humidity of the environment around the scorpion nest. If it is too dry, you can use a spray bottle to sprinkle water around it.

3. How to breed scorpions?

Scorpions are raised for sale as medicinal materials, and some are fried for consumption. Scorpions are precious Chinese medicinal materials, called whole insects or whole scorpions. Scorpions are arthropods, with a pair of pincers on both sides of their mouths, four pairs of legs on their chests, thick front abdomens, and slender back abdomens. There are poisonous hooks at the end, which are used to defend against enemies and catch prey. Their bodies are yellow-brown and they are viviparous. In nature, they mainly eat spiders and insects. They can be raised in various places, and the current market price is about 800 yuan per kilogram of dried scorpions. You can find professional scorpion farmers to introduce species and learn breeding techniques. In particular, you can learn about excellent varieties and feeds.
