Is the turtle a wild animal?

Soft-shell turtles are wild animals and are egg-laying amphibians and reptiles.

Soft-shelled turtles like quiet and are afraid of being startled. They like the sun and are afraid of wind. They like cleanliness and are afraid of dirt. Soft-shelled turtles react sensitively to the sounds of the surrounding environment. As long as there is a slight movement around them, they will quickly dive into the mud at the bottom of the water. Soft-shelled turtles are aquatic omnivores and like to eat animal bait. Soft-shelled turtles are cold-blooded animals, amphibious, and breathe with lungs. They like to live in rivers, lakes, and ponds. They often float to the surface of the water, stretch out their snouts to breathe, and often move on land to bask in the sun.

Picked up a wild turtle

I had just finished washing up in the bathroom that night when my eldest brother came to me timidly and told me: "There is something behind the door."

I asked him what it was but he didn't tell me, only saying that you would know when you go and see it. Confused, I walked closer and saw that it was a wild turtle. The shell was green, as if covered with a thin layer of moss.

I didn't have any handy tools at hand, so I could only subconsciously step on it with my foot, not caring that I was still wearing slippers. This little thing didn't like being suppressed and restrained, so it stretched out its long neck, opened its pointed mouth and turned back to bite me, and thus a special fight began.

The ending is as you expected. After a lot of effort, I finally caught it.

This is the second time I have picked up a soft-shelled turtle this month. The last time I picked it up in the drainpipe during the day. That guy stayed there quietly basking in the sun, seemingly thinking about his life. He was much more docile than the one in front of me.

Soft-shelled turtles mainly live in lakes, ponds, reservoirs, bays and slow-flowing rivers. They are cold-blooded animals that are amphibious and breathe with lungs. They like quietness and are afraid of being startled, they like the sun and are afraid of wind, and they are ferocious by nature.

We often see soft-shelled turtles at banquets, and some friends also like to buy soft-shelled turtles and release them into the wild. So how do you distinguish between artificially raised soft-shelled turtles and wild soft-shelled turtles?

1. Different plastron

There is a difference between wild and farmed soft-shelled turtles in the plastron area. The plastron cartilage of wild soft-shelled turtles is more elastic, and has a greater rebound force when pressed lightly with fingers. The abdominal cartilage of farmed soft-shelled turtles is less elastic, and becomes soft and collapsed when compressed, with less rebound force.

2. Difference in body color

There are differences in the body color of wild turtles and farmed turtles. The body color of wild turtles is usually gray-black, khaki or brown with black spots, while the body of farmed turtles is generally black with green, sometimes green moss color. In comparison, the body color of farmed turtles is brighter.

3. Body shape differences

Since wild turtles need to hunt for food on their own, they exercise a lot every day, resulting in a strong, slightly flat body and firm muscles. Farmed turtles are specially fed artificially and do not need to hunt for food on their own, so they are bloated, have loose muscles, and are clumsy and lack energy.

4. Difference between back claws

The back shell of wild turtles is smooth and flat, the skin is thin and even, with a waxy luster, the claws are sharp, dark in color, and severely worn, while the back shell of farmed turtles is thicker, the warts are rough, dull, with unclear outlines, and the claws are short and whitish in color.
