CATDOLL: Yellow catfish cage culture method and stocking prevention and control

Pelteobagrus fulvidraco is commonly known as yellow dart fish and long-spined fish. The average individual of Pelteobagrus fulvidraco is 200-300 grams. It is favored by consumers for its tender meat, few bones and scales, rich nutrition and delicious taste. Due to the limited wild resources, the market price remains high. The current market price is generally around 30 yuan per kilogram. If cage farming can be carried out in lakes, reservoirs, rivers and other water bodies, it can not only effectively utilize the water body, but also obtain higher economic benefits. It is a farming model worth promoting.

1. Cage requirements

1. Specifications: The raw material of the cage is made of polyethylene, with specifications of 3 meters long, 3 meters wide, 1.6 meters deep or 4 meters long, 4 meters wide, 1.6 meters deep; the outer mesh is 3 cm and the inner mesh is 1 cm.

2. Setup: The cages are made of bamboo as floating frames and fixed with anchor ropes. They are arranged in a "one" or "pin" shape. Pebbles are used as sinkers at the bottom of the cages so that the cages can rise and fall with the rise and fall of water. Generally, the distance between the cages is required to be 2-3 meters.

3. Location: The cage should be placed in a sunny area that is sheltered from the wind and has clear water and high dissolved oxygen.

2. Fish stocking

1. Preparation before stocking: Put the cages into the water one week before stocking the fish, so that the cage walls can be adhered with silk screen algae to keep them smooth and avoid scratches on the fish bodies.

2. Stocking time: Generally, fish are released around the Spring Festival, because the water temperature is low at this time and the fish are not easily injured. The fish need to be soaked in 5% salt water for 10-15 minutes before being put into the box.

3. Stocking density: If the fish with a tail weight of 25 grams are stocked, the stocking density is 100 fish/square meter; if the fish with a tail weight of 50 grams are stocked, the stocking density is 70 fish/square meter. In addition to the main yellow catfish, some bighead carp can be appropriately raised.

3. Feeding

Yellow catfish is an omnivorous fish. It is best to feed artificial compound feed in cage culture, with a daily feed amount of 3%-6% of the fish body weight. Generally, it is fed twice a day, that is, once at 9-10 am and once at 4-6 pm. It is best to eat the feed within 1 hour each time. The feed amount in the evening accounts for 60%, and the feed amount in the morning accounts for 40%. Feeding should follow the "four fixed" principle. The specific feeding should be flexibly controlled according to the weather, water temperature, and fish activity.

IV. Daily Management

In daily management, first, regular inspection. The operation should be standardized during breeding, and the growth of fish should be checked regularly. Careful observation should be made, and problems should be dealt with in a timely manner. The cage breeding log should be kept to record the daily water quality, water temperature, feeding, feeding, dead fish and diseases. Second, brush the cage. It is required to wash it every 7-10 days and clean the feed table once a day. This can fully exchange the water in the cage and keep the water quality fresh. Third, check the cage. In the daily management process, check the cage frequently to see if the net is damaged or slipped. If there is any damage, it should be discovered and repaired in time to avoid running fish or fierce fish sneaking into the cage and harming the farmed fish. Fourth, shade. In order to allow the yellow catfish to feed normally, the cage should be covered with a shade net. In order to cool down the yellow catfish and prevent heatstroke and assist in concealment in the hot summer, water hyacinth or water peanuts occupying about 2/3 of the cage area are transplanted in the cage.

5. Fish disease prevention and control

Yellow catfish has a strong disease resistance. As long as the water quality is strictly controlled according to the requirements and routine disinfection and prevention work are done, diseases rarely occur. In the prevention and control of fish diseases in cage fish farming, prevention measures should be adhered to. Bleaching powder and copper sulfate and ferrous sulfate mixture (5:2) should be used frequently to hang bags, which are generally replaced once a week. At the same time, antibiotics should be added to the feed regularly to ensure the healthy growth of the fish.

6. Timely fishing and marketing

In order to adjust the breeding density and improve the breeding efficiency, it is necessary to catch and sell the fish in time according to the market situation and the growth of the fish, and to maximize the utilization rate of the water space to achieve the best economic benefits. Cage-cultured yellow catfish can generally be caught and sold in batches starting from August.
