CATDOLL : How long do cats live?

How long do cats live?

The life span of a cat is generally between 10 and 15 years. In addition to the health of the cat, the life span of the cat is also largely related to the cat's breed, living environment, etc. Under the conditions of family feeding, if the nutrition is adequate and the medical conditions are good, the average life span of male cats is estimated to be 13-15 years, and the life span of unmated female cats is 15-17 years, but the life span of sterilized male and female cats is 1-2 years longer than the average life span. Some cats with breed-related genetic diseases have a relatively shorter life span. For example, short-legged cats such as the Mancogene are prone to die early due to multiple arthritis.

Ways to prolong your cat's lifespan:

1. For old cats whose metabolism slows down, a warm environment is perfect. In cold seasons, you can add blankets or electric blankets to their regular sleeping places.

2. When cats enter old age, they will sleep longer than before and spend less time grooming their hair. In addition, their bodies are declining and the quality of their hair is not as good as before, so they need human help to comb their hair and clean the dirt on their bodies.

3. Cats need regular physical examinations to confirm their physical condition when they enter middle age or old age. Middle-aged and young cats can have a physical examination once a year, while older cats need to have a physical examination once every six months.

4. Just like humans, the life span of cats is also related to mental health. If a cat is in a state of sadness, tension, and anxiety for a long time, its life span will definitely not be long. On the contrary, if a cat is in a happy state for a long time, lives happily every day, is in a better mood, is healthier, and naturally lives longer.
