CATDOLL: Key points and techniques of mandarin fish breeding, is mandarin fish a marine fish or a freshwater fish?

1. Key points and techniques of mandarin fish breeding, is mandarin fish a marine fish or a freshwater fish?

1. Build a breeding pond: Build a breeding pond in a place with convenient drainage and good water quality. The silt at the bottom of the pond should not be too thick and the water depth should be more than 1.5m. 2. Release fish fry: First clean and disinfect the pond, then release 4,000 fish fry per mu. 3. Feeding management: Because mandarin fish is a ferocious carnivorous fish that feeds on live fish and shrimp throughout its life, it can be fed with fresh silver carp, bighead carp, Thai ling, crucian carp, carp and other bait fish. Do not feed bait fish that have died for too long to avoid the mandarin fish not eating. 4. Daily management: Supplement oxygen in time to prevent the mandarin fish from floating due to lack of oxygen. At the same time, pay attention to disease prevention and control and change water regularly.

1. Key points and techniques of mandarin fish breeding

1. Build a breeding pond

(1) The aquaculture pond should be built in a place with convenient drainage and irrigation, good water quality and no sewage inflow. The water depth should be more than 1.5m, and the pond bottom should be sandy without excessive silt. The thickness of the silt is generally about 15cm.

(2) In order to facilitate the catching of mandarin fish, it is necessary to dig a shallow ditch 30-40 cm deep around the pond.

2. Release fish fry

(1) Before releasing the fry, the pond needs to be cleaned and disinfected with lime powder to ensure a clean breeding environment.

(2) Usually 4,000 fish fry can be released per mu. Please note that appropriate aquatic plants can be planted in the pond for the mandarin fish to rest.

3. Feeding management

(1) Mandarin fish is a ferocious carnivorous fish that feeds on live fish and shrimp throughout its life. Even when it is a newly opened fish fry, it will generally eat the fry of other fish. When it grows up, in addition to eating live fish, it will also eat shrimps, tadpoles and other creatures.

(2) The bait fish for mandarin carp mainly include silver carp, bighead carp, native carp, wheat carp, Thai carp, crucian carp, carp and other species. The bait fish must be fresh. Mandarin carp generally will not eat bait fish that have been dead for a long time.

4. Daily management

(1) Observe the dissolved oxygen content in the water and replenish oxygen in time to prevent the mandarin fish from floating due to lack of oxygen. If it is sunny or a little cloudy, you can usually choose to start the oxygenator at noon. If it is hot and humid, you can usually start it from midnight to early morning.

(2) Carry out disinfection regularly and replace water in a timely manner to maintain the transparency of the pool water at around 30 cm. At the same time, pay attention to the prevention and control of diseases and pests.

2. Is Mandarin Fish a Marine Fish or a Freshwater Fish?

1. Mandarin fish is a freshwater fish. It is a precious fish in freshwater. It often moves at the bottom of the water body. It especially likes to hide in the rocks at the bottom of the water and also likes to hide in lush grass.

2. Mandarin fish usually forage and move around at night. During the day, they mostly lie in rock crevices, tree roots, and pits, and rarely come out to move around. They mainly grow in rivers and lakes.

3. Mandarin fish likes to eat live bait, and the objects of its food will change according to the changes in its body size. Mandarin fish with a total length of less than 15cm like to eat shrimps, small fish and other species, while mandarin fish with a size of more than 25cm like to eat larger fish such as bream and carp.

2. How long is the life span of fish?

Due to the influence of natural factors and human fishing, most fish cannot complete their entire life cycle and die. Therefore, it is difficult for us to know their physiological lifespan, and we can only understand their ecological lifespan. The usual practice is to judge their lifespan based on the annual rings on the body tissues (such as scales, otoliths, fin rays, fin bones, gill covers, vertebrae, etc.) of a certain largest individual caught (fish grow throughout their lives, the larger the individual, the older it is). Generally speaking, the lifespan of fish is related to their individual size and the age of sexual maturity. The larger the fish body and the later it matures, the longer its lifespan. From this perspective, the world's largest fish, the whale, should have the longest lifespan. Unfortunately, so far, people know nothing about its lifespan. It is reported that the European sturgeon living in the Caspian Sea and the Black Sea can weigh up to 1,500 kilograms and live for more than 100 years; and the white sturgeon in the Yangtze River in my country has a lifespan of nearly 100 years. Many small fish, such as the freshwater fish false goby, herring, and silverfish, only live for about one year. Although the life span of fish varies greatly among species, the life span of most fish is concentrated between 2 and 20 years, of which 60% are concentrated between 5 and 20 years. No more than 10% of fish can live for more than 30 years, and only 5% live for less than 2 years. Among my country's freshwater fish, silver fish: minnow, redfin fish, copper fish, yellow catfish, silver carp, and sand snakehead have a life span of 2 to 4 years; black carp, grass carp, silver carp, bighead carp, crucian carp, bream, white red fish, and mandarin fish have a life span of 7 to 8 years, and some can live for more than 10 years. The life span of marine fish is shorter. In addition, the life span of the same species of fish living in different environments is also different. For example, large yellow croaker can live for 29 years along the Zhejiang coast, but in Fujian and Guangdong coasts, it usually only has a life span of 17 years, and in the eastern waters of Hainan, it only lives for 9 years.

3. Is it difficult to raise Thai tigers?

Thai tiger fish also known as: Nantos fish Siamese tiger fish

Scientific Name: Datnioides microlepis

English name: Siamese Tigerfish

Family: Pleuronectinidae

Adult fish length: 40 cm

Suitable water temperature: 23-26 degrees Celsius

Origin: Found in streams and rivers in Thailand. Also found in Borneo and Sumatra. Lives in fast-flowing waters near riverbanks.

Active water layer: bottom layer

Temperament: Lively and cute. But because it eats fish, it cannot be kept with small fish!

Diet: Carnivorous, Piscivorous

Water quality for breeding: weakly acidic to neutral soft water, and waters with a certain low salinity. Salt needs to be added to the water. And it needs a place with lush aquatic plants, rocks, and caves. You can set up some bottomless flower pots to simulate caves. They use caves as their home and like to roll around in them, which is very cute.

The basic body color of a young Siamese tiger fish is white with black stripes. When it grows up, the white gradually turns yellow, forming a tiger-like pattern. It is a popular ornamental fish.

This fish is related to the precious edible fish in the Yangtze River Basin of my country: Mandarin fish. This fish is also a very precious edible fish in its place of origin. Shenzhen, my country, once introduced this fish species for artificial breeding. It is used to entertain guests and for ornamental purposes. However, most of this fish that can be seen in the domestic ornamental fish market are re-exported from Thailand via Singapore.

The color of this fish is an indicator of health. When their color becomes lighter or darker, it means that they are not in good spirits or have health problems.

Siamese Tigerfish need large meaty bait. Small fish are best.

Advice: Neutral water with low salinity and high water flow. This species is large and difficult to distinguish between males and females, so breeding in an aquarium is almost impossible.
