What are the symptoms and treatment of chicken cecal hepatitis?

Clinical symptoms: Chickens with cecal hepatitis are listless, have poor or no appetite, often stand with their necks hunched, wings drooping, and are not active. Their feathers are rough, dull, and have serrated tips. Their stools are light yellow or light green, and in acute cases, they have bloody and watery stools. In the late stages of the disease, due to obstructed blood flow, the head turns bluish purple or black, hence the name "blackhead disease." The cloaca temperature rises to over 42 degrees and drops to below 40 degrees before death.

Symptoms of autopsy: When autopsy is performed on critically ill or dead chickens, lesions are mainly found in the liver and cecum. The liver is enlarged, with yellow or yellow-green or even brown round needles on the surface, the size of mung beans to soybeans, the center is sunken, the edges are raised, and the necrosis is button-like, scattered or densely covered on the entire liver surface, and the cecum is enlarged. The sides of the cecum are filled with blood or coagulated blood clots. In severe cases, the intestinal contents are coagulated and look like sausages. When cut open, the cutting surface is concentric. The center is a black-red blood clot, the periphery is grayish white or the center is all yellowish white or grayish white cheese-like embolism, the intestinal wall is thickened, hardened, and loses elasticity. Is chicken cecal hepatitis contagious? It can be transmitted to other healthy chickens. The disease is mainly caused by the feces discharged by sick chickens that contaminate feed, drinking water, soil and utensils, and is infected through the digestive tract. Therefore, infected chicken farms must strengthen management and take preventive measures.
