CATDOLL: What should I do if the little duck is sick?

What should I do if the duckling is sick?

The ducklings may be sick for the following reasons:

1. Cold

1. Symptoms

It is mostly caused by sudden changes in weather, cold wind or excessive moisture in the bedding. The sick ducks have clear fluid flowing from their noses, and experience breathing difficulties, coughing, and tearing.

2. Treatment

(1) Add oxytetracycline to daily feed at a dosage of 0.02% of the feed weight for 2-4 consecutive days.

(2) Feed the ducklings 0.1 grams of aspirin every day, divided into three doses, for 2-3 consecutive days.

(3) Add 500 grams of mung beans (enough for 100 ducklings) to an appropriate amount of clean water, boil the juice and let the ducklings take it three times a day.

(4) Intramuscular injection of penicillin 1000 units, divided into two injections a day, for 7 consecutive days.

(5) Prepare 10 grams of mint, 500 grams of fresh reed root, 500 grams of green onion, 250 grams of astragalus, 250 grams of saposhnikovia, 250 grams of fermented black beans, and 250 grams of kudzu root. Add appropriate amount of water and boil the juice. It can be used for 1,000 ducklings (2 weeks old). There is no limit to the amount you can take each time.

2. Coccidiosis

1. Symptoms

The main symptoms are loose stools followed by bloody stools. The mortality rate of this disease is high and it is more harmful to ducklings.

2. Treatment

(1) Mix 0.1% sulfamethoxazole into the feed and feed continuously for 3-5 days.

(2) Mix 0.02% of co-trimoxazole into the feed and feed continuously for 3-5 days.

(3) Mix 0.04% of guanchongling into the feed and feed it continuously for 5 days.

(4) Mix 0.01% of chlorfenapyr or salocortol into the feed and feed it continuously for 6 days.

(5) Mix 0.02% chlorpheniramine into the feed and feed it continuously for 6 days.

(6) When preventing the disease, good hygiene and cleaning should be done to prevent the ducklings from eating the feces of sick ducks, contaminated feed and drinking water, and keep the duck house clean and dry.

3. Duckling diarrhea

1. Symptoms

(1) The diseased ducks have increased secretions from their eyes and noses, swelling of the sinuses on both sides, and cheesy material when the sinuses are squeezed. Their heads and necks are tilted to one side, their movements are slow, they have white diarrhea or green feces, and they cough. Some diseased ducks rest their beaks on the ground, their heads and necks twitch, and the bottom of their webbed feet and the surface of their tarsal joints are cracked.

(2) Sick chicks often make short sounds when defecating, and white, sometimes brown-green, excrement accumulates around the anus. Other symptoms include lethargy, weakness, loss of appetite, and swollen tarsal joints.

2. Treatment

(1) Mixing 0.03-0.04% oxytetracycline or 0.02-0.03% sulfamethoxazole into the feed can achieve better therapeutic effects after feeding.

(2) Mix 100g of "Chu Le Kang" into every 200kg of water and let the ducklings drink it. Use it for 3-5 days. The effect is better if it is drunk together.

4. Duckling viral hepatitis

1. Symptoms

(1) It mostly occurs in ducklings under 3 weeks old, with a high mortality rate.

(2) The main symptoms of the disease are cramps all over the body and the head tilted back, hence the name "back and neck disease". The feet kick repeatedly and spasmodically, sometimes spinning on the ground.

(3) In acute cases, there are often no obvious symptoms, and death occurs as soon as the patient's neck turns back or the legs kick.

2. Treatment

(1) Rapidly inject the ducklings with egg yolk homogenate of immune ducks at a volume of 1-1.5 ml per duck. This can control the spread of the disease and reduce mortality.

(2) For prevention, the yolk of the immunized duck is used for subcutaneous injection into newborn ducklings, with a dosage of 0.25-1 ml per duck.

5. Avian Cholera

1. Symptoms

(1) The course of the disease is 1-3 days. Symptoms include diarrhea, green or white loose feces, mucus mixed with foam in the mouth and nostrils, and frequent shaking of the head.

(2) One-month-old ducklings have a higher mortality rate.

2. Treatment

(1) Antibiotics: 30,000 to 50,000 units of penicillin are injected intramuscularly into each duck, 2 to 3 times a day for 3 to 4 consecutive days.

(2) Sulfonamides: including sulfadiazine, sulfadimethoxine, sulfaguanidine and other drugs, 0.2-0.5 grams per kilogram of body weight are taken orally, or mixed into feed at a ratio of 0.4%, fed twice a day for 3-5 consecutive days.

6. Weak feet

1. Symptoms

(1) The ducklings are depressed, their feathers are ruffled, their muscles are loose, their leg joints are swollen, and they are reluctant to move around. After being driven away, they walk unsteadily and cannot stand.

(2) Ducklings like to sleep, their bodies tremble, and their heads and necks hang down. In severe cases, they often stand on their tarsal joints or wings for support. Due to long-term wear and tear of the tarsal joints and wings, their feet swell and turn purple and black, and they eventually become paralyzed.

(3) When laying ducks are sick, they will become emaciated, their fur will darken, and their egg production will drop sharply due to their inability to exercise and forage. If treatment is not timely, they will die in large numbers.

2. Treatment

(1) Mix 100g of "Serous Membrane Quick Elimination" with 400kg of water and let the ducks drink the mixture.

(2) Mix 100g of "serous membrane quick-dissipation" into 200kg of feed and then feed for 5 consecutive days.

7. Duck Virus Hepatitis

1. Symptoms

Ducklings under 5 weeks of age are more likely to get sick, often breaking out in winter or early spring. The disease course is short, spreads rapidly, and has a high mortality rate. The main symptoms are movement disorders, cramps in both feet, heads tilted back, wings drooping, difficulty breathing, and heads twisted or tilted on the back before death, with legs straightened and spread out backwards.

2. Treatment

(1) There is currently no treatment for this disease. After the onset of the disease, the sick ducks should be isolated immediately and then injected with high-immune serum, or yolk antibodies, or recovered duck serum. This injection can reduce the mortality rate and prevent the disease from spreading further.

(2) Injecting double dose of duck hepatitis vaccine into one-week-old ducklings can prevent this disease.

In conclusion, after reading the above introduction about what medicine to take when the little duck is sick, I believe everyone will have a certain understanding of what medicine to take when the little duck is sick, and I hope it can be helpful to you.
