CATDOLL: What do mealworms eat?

The main feed for mealworms is wheat bran. It can be supplemented with other bran and other vegetables, mainly cabbage, cauliflower, radish, potato, etc., other green vegetables, fruits, etc. These feeds can meet the needs of the insects for protein, vitamins, trace elements and water. Each kilogram of mealworms can eat 3 kilograms of wheat bran and 6 kilograms of vegetables in one generation cycle.

Mealworms are a species of the Insecta, Coleoptera, Tenebrioideae, and Pseudocercus genus. They are commonly known as mealworms and are the most ideal feed insects for artificial breeding. In addition to high crude protein and fat content, mealworm larvae also contain a variety of sugars, amino acids, vitamins, hormones, enzymes, and minerals such as phosphorus, iron, potassium, sodium, and calcium. They have high nutritional value and can be directly used as live animal protein feed for breeding frogs, turtles, scorpions, centipedes, ants, high-quality fish, ornamental birds, medicinal animals, precious fur animals, and rare livestock and poultry. They can also be used in food, health products, cosmetics, and other industries after processing. Because their protein nutritional content ranks first among all types of live animal protein feeds, they are known as the "treasure house of protein feed."
