1. Breeding site

Duckbill fish are generally cultured in ponds or cages. After disinfection, fertilizer should be added to replenish the fertility of the water body, and finally new water should be injected for breeding. For cage culture, it is necessary to choose an area with good water quality and disinfect and clean the cage.

2. Fish stocking

The fry of duck-billed fish should be selected from high-quality fry with strong physique, uniform size, active swimming, and no disease or injury. Since duck-billed fish fry are sensitive to changes in water temperature, the temperature difference should not be too large when the fry enters the box, preferably not more than ±2℃, and try to adjust it to be consistent. Before entering the box, use 1.5-2.0% salt water to disinfect the fish body for 8-10 minutes. Then take a small amount of water from the fish pond for trial breeding. If there is no problem with the trial breeding, it can be put into breeding.

3. Bait configuration

In the early stage of stocking, duckbill fish are mainly fed with zooplankton (such as bloodworms). In the later stage, after domestication, they are gradually fed with floating granular baits, supplemented with night light baits. The baits must be fresh, not deteriorated, rich in nutrition, and of suitable particle size. Feeding follows the "four fixed" principle.

4. Water replacement

The duckbill fish is very adaptable to the environment, but it is also very strict about the water quality. In particular, there must be no lack of oxygen in the water, otherwise it is easy to cause large-scale deaths. Therefore, it is necessary to equip the aerator to replenish the oxygen in the pool in time. In addition, the water should be changed every 10-15 days, and the fish and weeds in the pond should be eliminated. Of course, some aquatic plants can also be properly cultivated to regulate the water quality and increase the oxygen content in the water. Fertilizer should be added every 15 days to ensure the nutrient supply of natural bait in the water.
