What should we pay attention to when breeding scorpions?Scientific breeding technology of scorpions. This article may help you to raise scorpions. Scorpions, which have been unpopular since ancient times, have become more and more precious today with the rapid development of science and technology and the continuous improvement of living standards. It is not only a widely used precious traditional Chinese medicine, but also a variety of nourishing health drinks and delicious dishes processed from it are also popular among people, and even served on Chinese banquets. However, the wild resources of scorpions are decreasing. According to statistics, the current national production can only reach about 30% of the demand, and the price has been rising year by year. Therefore, the craze of artificial scorpion breeding is rising. However, the many problems brought about by artificial scorpion breeding cannot be ignored, because this is related to the key to the success or failure of scorpion farmers. Generally speaking, any species in nature will surely reproduce in large numbers as long as there is sufficient feed, a suitable environment, no invasion of natural enemies, and no harm from diseases. The reason why many breeders fail is that they cannot meet the above conditions well. Now, I will introduce the current common problems summarized by the investigation of more than 500 farmers in the three sub-farms of my farm for reference by scorpion farmers: 1. Single feed variety, serious lack of nutrition in scorpion body: Most farmers use mealworm as the only feed insect for scorpions. If scorpions only eat mealworms, they cannot fully absorb the various nutrients they need, which will inevitably lead to incomplete nutrition and affect their normal development. Mealworms are not very active and are relatively less likely to be discovered by scorpions. This often leads to insufficient food intake. Generally, feed insects with sensitive activities are easily preyed on by scorpions, while feed insects with low activity are difficult to be captured by scorpions. Practice has proved that scorpions capture feed insects mainly by feeling the vibration of the air around them to find the target. If you see some mealworms left, you think the scorpion is full and no longer feed insects; or you think that the feeding times are too many, so you feed once every 3 or 5 days. This is completely wrong. Because those residual mealworms are not left after the scorpion is full, but because of its low activity, it is not discovered by the scorpion. Therefore, it is far from enough to use mealworms as food for scorpions. At the same time, more sensitive feed insects such as ground turtles, crickets, locusts, and house flies should be released so that scorpions have more opportunities to prey on various feed insects, thereby taking in comprehensive and rich nutrition. 2. Unsuitable ecological environment affects the growth and development of scorpions: Now all places are actively promoting scorpion breeding without dormancy, but the first step to breeding scorpions without dormancy is to create a suitable ecological environment, which is a necessary prerequisite. In this regard, common problems are: 1. The indoor temperature is low, often maintained below 25℃. The survival activities of scorpions are greatly affected by temperature. At such a temperature, although scorpions will not hibernate, they have a poor appetite and weak digestion ability, and they almost do not eat the feed insects they are fed. In the long run, the nutrients in the scorpion's body are exhausted and cannot be replenished in time, which seriously inhibits the growth and development of the scorpion and even forms chronic dehydration or causes death. 2. The humidification method is incorrect. The humidification method of sprinkling or spraying water has a big flaw. When water is just added, the humidity is high, and water will accumulate on the ground or form mud. Although scorpions like moisture, they are afraid of water. Such an environment will cause harm to scorpions. At the same time, if the amount of water added is large, the temperature will easily drop, and if the amount is small, the humidity will not be easy to maintain. Spraying and sprinkling water will also disturb scorpions and affect their normal survival activities. 3. Poor control of temperature and humidity. The relationship between temperature and humidity is not well coordinated. Low temperature and low humidity, low temperature and high humidity, high temperature and low humidity, etc., which are not conducive to the normal life of scorpions, often occur. In a low temperature and low humidity environment, the growth and development of scorpions are inhibited; low temperature and high humidity are easy to cause fungal diseases or abdominal distension; high temperature and low humidity will cause chronic dehydration and death. 4. The stack body design is unreasonable. There are few gaps in the stack body, and the gap space is large. Many scorpions live in one gap, causing serious interference with each other, affecting the scorpion's mating, molting and other activities. As a result, there are phenomena such as mating failure of estrus scorpions and molting scorpions being attacked by other scorpions. 3. Lack of effective measures to defend against natural enemies: The natural enemies that are serious harm to scorpions are mice, weasels, ants, etc. If mice and weasels enter the scorpion pond, huge losses will be caused in a short time. In winter, when scorpions hibernate, ants are easy to reproduce in the greenhouse. Because of their small bodies, they often live in groups. Once they occur, they can be killed by bones. During the entire breeding process, attention should be paid to the defense against natural enemies. If problems are found, effective measures should be taken immediately to avoid causing greater losses. 4. Lack of knowledge on disease prevention and control: Although scorpions have strong disease resistance, it does not mean that they will not get sick. Some people only focus on breeding, not prevention and control. In the process of building greenhouses, scorpion ponds, stacks, placing feeders and feed insects, and placing equipment, they do not strictly follow the regulations, which often lays hidden dangers for the occurrence of diseases. In addition, if the treatment is not timely or the measures are ineffective after the disease occurs, great losses will be caused. Therefore, in the breeding process, the operating procedures must be strictly followed, and the knowledge and techniques of disease prevention and control should be learned and mastered. Scorpions are a traditional precious Chinese medicine with a wide range of applications. They have anti-aging, anti-cancer, anti-rheumatic and anti-viral effects. There are about 12 species of scorpion resources in my country, but due to human development and utilization of nature, the living environment of scorpions has been continuously destroyed, resulting in a shortage of supply and rising prices. In order to meet market demand and benefit mankind, the State Science and Technology Commission has included artificial scorpion breeding in the "Spark Plan" to encourage people to raise scorpions. In order to make people better understand scorpion breeding technology, scorpion breeding experts have set up Wanjin in Fangcun District, Guangzhou. Scorpions can also be used to make high-end dishes, and the demand for them is increasing. Scorpion's living habits Scorpions are cold-blooded animals. As the temperature gradually rises, they begin to wake up from hibernation, move around, grow, and give birth. The best temperature during hibernation should be 3-5℃, and no more than -2~7℃. When the temperature exceeds 10℃, the scorpion wakes up and starts to move slightly. When the temperature exceeds 15℃, most scorpions have become active and a small number have started to eat. When the temperature exceeds 20℃, most scorpions start to eat and some scorpions start to grow. When the temperature exceeds 25℃, scorpions eat faster and most of them begin to grow and develop. When the temperature rises to above 30℃, the growth and development of scorpions and the birth of offspring accelerate, the gestation period of female scorpions shortens, and the survival rate of offspring increases. 32-35℃ is the ideal temperature for scorpions to grow, develop, give birth and survive. If the temperature can be controlled within this range, the gestation period of scorpions is 95 days, a female scorpion can give birth to three litters a year, and it only takes 8 months for a baby scorpion to grow from birth to adult scorpions. The temperature should not exceed 38℃. Once it exceeds this level, scorpions will easily become dehydrated. It takes about 1,000 days (4 years) for a scorpion to grow from a baby to an adult. In the wild, a scorpion can grow in one year and can be divided into a growing period (Qingming-Bailu), a filling period (Autumnal Equinox-Frost Descent), a dormant period (Lidong-Rain Water), and a recovery period (Qingzhe-Qingming). Raising scorpions in a greenhouse (in the south) can greatly shorten the growth cycle. Scorpion food species sources: Food. The main food for scorpions raised at home is mealworms, earthworms, sterile flies, etc. If conditions permit, you can also feed them some earthworms, grasshoppers, earthworms, crickets, ants, grubs, woodlice, centipedes, crickets, etc. Scorpion farm facilities and construction: |
