CATDOLL: Density of four major carps cultured with soft-shell turtle

1. Density of co-culture of soft-shell turtles and four major carps

The density of mixed culture of soft-shelled turtles and four major carps is: 120 catties of four major carps and 60 catties of soft-shelled turtle fry per mu.

Ponds should be dried and exposed to the sun or frozen in winter, and old ponds should be cleared of excess bottom silt. Before stocking, fill with 0.8m-1.0m of water and clean the pond with about 150kg/mu of quicklime. Then apply fermented and decomposed organic fertilizers such as human, livestock, and poultry manure. The amount of fertilizer applied to newly dug ponds is about 500kg/mu, and the amount of fertilizer applied to old ponds is 250kg/mu-350kg/mu.

10 days after pond cleaning, stock lake snails at 30kg/mu to 100kg/mu. For fish-turtle mixed culture ponds that are mainly used for fish farming, the above operation can be carried out before stocking in winter, while for fish-turtle mixed culture ponds that are mainly used for turtle farming, the above operation should be carried out in early and mid-May each year. In early and mid-June, about one week before the young turtles in the greenhouse are released from the pond, the doors and windows of the greenhouse should be opened to cool down, so that the air temperature and water temperature inside and outside the greenhouse gradually become the same, and then the young turtles can be released from the pond into the fish-turtle mixed culture pond.

Advantages of mixed breeding of soft-shelled turtles

Mixed turtle farming does not require feeding, which reduces costs. Since the main species is grass carp, only grass carp feed is used, and the turtles are not fed with feed at all. The advantage of this is that the cost of turtle farming is very low, even only the cost of seedlings. Because the density of turtles is low, diseases will basically not occur, and there will be no drug costs. Without diseases, the survival rate will be very high, which is the key to increasing benefits.

In addition, using winter fallow fields to plant ryegrass provides a rich low-cost bait for grass carp in winter. Grass carp are only fed with compound feed when ryegrass is not available, which saves a lot of feed expenses. Raising a small amount of soft-shelled turtles in domestic fish ponds will not affect the normal growth of domestic fish, so the benefits of mixed-breeding soft-shelled turtles are almost the net increase in pond profits.

2. Profits of raising soft-shelled turtles

Without experience, you can't raise soft-shelled turtles well. Although they have a long lifespan, they will still die in large numbers if infected with bacteria. However, as long as the fish pond and pond water are strictly disinfected, the feed is hygienic, and the density is a little sparse, the problem is not big. If there are technicians to guide the breeding, the gross profit of outdoor pond soft-shelled turtles is 50%, but the time is a little longer; the gross profit of greenhouse soft-shelled turtles is 25%, but the time is short. A soft-shelled turtle pond with a bathing pool is suitable for a greenhouse pool, and the cost is 250 yuan/square meter.

3. What is the profit of turtle farming in outdoor ponds?

According to the full greenhouse breeding model, the cost of Taiwan soft-shelled turtle is 24 yuan/kg, not counting labor. Ten thousand soft-shelled turtle seedlings are cultured for about 10 months, producing 4,000-4,500 kg of commercial soft-shelled turtles with a size of 0.5 kg/piece, with a survival rate of about 85%. The Taiwan soft-shelled turtles in the greenhouse are directly put on the market at a price of 36.6 yuan/kg, while the price of soft-shelled turtles in the same period last year was 33 yuan/kg. After deducting the cost increase factor, the profit of each soft-shelled turtle shed is more than 40,000 yuan. According to the two-stage breeding model, the Japanese soft-shelled turtle seedlings were put in that year, which was more than 1 yuan higher than the Taiwan soft-shelled turtle. Other production costs are similar. Ten thousand soft-shelled turtles are cultured for 7 months, and the output is 4,500-5,000 kg, with a size of about 0.5 kg/piece. After leaving the greenhouse and moving to the outside pond for more than 4 months, the general specification is about 1 kg/piece, the production cost is 40-43 yuan/kg, and the price out of the shed is about 80 yuan/kg, which is a considerable benefit.

4. Is it profitable to raise soft-shelled turtles?

If you have the conditions to engage in soft-shelled turtle farming and can do it, you can certainly make money, but raising soft-shelled turtles is a technical job that requires hard work and study.

5. How to make more money by raising soft-shelled turtles?

If you want to get good economic benefits from raising soft-shelled turtles, you must do the following three steps well, namely, calculate the accounts well, raise the turtles well, and sell them at a good price.

(1) Calculate the accounts carefully Before raising soft-shelled turtles, you must first calculate the accounts carefully. The reason why many farms lose money is that they follow the trend of others raising soft-shelled turtles and start raising them, without calculating whether the changes in the market and costs after raising them are beneficial to their own breeding. Following the trend, there is no market after the turtles grow up, and in the end they can only watch others make money while they end up in a mess. Calculating the accounts carefully mainly involves understanding the market changes of production materials and the price trends of the product market, and then controlling and managing the breeding costs. Finally, you can only start breeding when you are sure that it is profitable. (2) Raise soft-shelled turtles well Before you start breeding, you must raise soft-shelled turtles well. Raising them well is not only about the output, but also about the quality. You must standardize the operation and production according to the relevant national requirements for food quality and hygiene. The author currently advocates low-density disease-free breeding, with the purpose of not using chemical drugs to ensure that the quality of the soft-shelled turtles after breeding is fine, so that the products on the market are not only delicious, but also safe and hygienic. (3) Selling at a good price Generally speaking, good products will not have trouble selling, but you also need to study the market and guide the market so that your products can be launched on the market at the right time. Therefore, in order to sell products at a good price, not only must the products be of good quality and have a brand, but you also need to advertise so that your products can be widely known and become famous in the market.
