What do wild turtles eat?

Turtle, also known as round fish, foot fish, water fish, scientific name Chinese soft-shelled turtle, is a secondary aquatic reptile widely distributed in my country. What do wild soft-shelled turtles eat?

Wild turtles have a rather varied diet, eating tadpoles, snails, clams, small fish, shrimps, earthworms, aquatic insects and other foods.

When food is scarce, they may eat their own kind or animal carcasses.

Artificial feeding can add fruits, eggs, vegetables, rice and other foods.

The feeding amount of the turtle must be increased or decreased with the change of water temperature. Generally, the turtle will start to eat when the water temperature is above 18°C. At this time, a small amount of feeding should be given, and fresh fish meat, snail meat and clams should be used to lure the turtle to eat early. In the early stage of feeding, it is generally fed once every 1-2 days. When the water temperature is stable above 20°C, normal feeding can be carried out, and it is generally enough to feed twice a day.

Prepared feed must be placed on the table in a fixed position, so that it is convenient to check the feeding situation of the turtle, remove the leftover bait, and prevent feed waste and water pollution. Animal feed must be fresh and not spoiled, and the protein content in the compound feed must meet the requirements. The daily feeding amount of the turtle can be calculated according to the body weight. The daily feeding amount of the full-price compound feed is about 8%. The feeding time should also be determined according to the weather, feeding intensity, disease conditions, water quality, etc.
