CATDOLL: Where is the heart of a shrimp?

1. Where is the heart of the shrimp?

The heart of the shrimp is in the head!

2. Where are the shrimp’s internal organs located?

The head and shrimp intestine are at the junction of the head and body.

3. Where is the heart of a shrimp?

The heart is located in the center of the back and is a small light brown body. The beating of the heart of live shrimp can be observed through the transparent intersegmental membrane at the rear edge of the cephalothorax. There are three pairs of heart holes on the dorsal, ventral and lateral walls of the heart, which are the channels for blood to enter the heart from the blood sinuses. Seven arteries are sent out from the heart: an anterior aorta, a pair of antennal arteries and a pair of hepatic arteries forward; a posterior aorta backward; and a descending artery downward. Since the blood of shrimp is colorless, the above arteries are almost transparent and very thin, and can be easily broken. The heart is surrounded by the cardiac sinuses.
